The most desirable seat on the bus to me is the empty window seat next to a man in the aisle seat refusing to slide over so he can have a row to himself. I will climb you like a jungle gym, sir.
My favorite place in crowded public transportation is next to a decided manspreader. I will slide into the adjacent seat and lovingly place my sizable leg alongside his in a hot embrace of warm trouserware. Without fail, within a matter of seconds the manspreading will turn into parodically prudish crossing of legs to keep them safely away from me. The process is glorious to behold.
@overholt I will not slide over but I will absolutely get up and let you have the window seat, because I don’t so much want the row to myself as I don’t want to be potentially hemmed in by someone I want to get away from 😅
@phire I recognize that there's a whole range of social interaction valences depending on who exactly is sitting there and who is the person approaching.
@overholt I've done this. Minus the "sir" part. I've seen seat hogs not move over for disabled people. Or for elderly people. It's disgusting behavior. This kind of entitlement should not be rewarded and climbing over them is the least one can do.
@Lunchbox@overholt On a truly wonderful day I’ve managed to budge someone like that on the MBTA and then turn around and offer the seat to someone elderly.
The universe truly smiled on me that day.
@Wraithe@overholt Ha ha good for you! I always get up for families, elderly, disabled, etc. If it's a seat hog, I'll just tell them to move. 90% of the time they do. They know.
Another thing that gets me is smoking in the train car. One time the whole car joined in and threw the smokers off. There was an infant in the car. CTA Chicago.
