Not since the movie Dodgeball came out have I seen such great examples of the 5 D’s: dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge. As Patches O’Houlihan would say, “if you can dodge a ball, you can dodge a union.” I never imagined it was possible to ignore such a large portion of your workforce for over a year, but the level of contempt management has for its workers is truly impressive! In fact, since negotiations began, only 2.5% of our working time has been spent on bargaining. @AG Sulzberger, We all had something to #celebrate on March 3, 2022, when the 600+ members of the Times Tech Guild overwhelmingly voted to certify our union. Since then, there’s been little to celebrate. We’ve had far too few bargaining sessions -- just 15 in the last year. And management’s few counter proposals have been sweepingly dismissive of our careful work in crafting language that represents the needs of our entire unit. Today, we’re calling on company leadership all the way from @AG Sulzberger and @meredith.levien -- who have yet to attend a single bargaining session -- to @hannah.yang, @jsobel, @alex.hardiman, @kerri.crossan, and @ryan.darcy: It’s time to take bargaining seriously. That means longer, more frequent bargaining sessions and counter proposals that demonstrate your respect for our unit and our bargaining rights.
