@seachanger something I've noticed about successful resistance movements is they constantly celebrate and remember their martyrs. They don't keep sharing the face of the people who are oppressing them, they share the faces of those they have lost.

I am not sure how it would work, but instead of showing a picture of Musk, maybe show pictures or the names of all the people who were negatively affected by him buying Twtr, or all the people who were put in danger or exploited by Zuckerberg exposing peoples data from Meta?
Think thumbnails, or names filling a screen, and a number on the top, increasing by the second.
That's a good point. People don't seem to be leaving twitter even though Trump is there now.
Maybe instead of hoping they will flee Trump we should work more on giving them something to come towards, by embodying what we stand for and who we have lost.
@Loukas@seachanger Yes, exactly. One problem with the Fediverse might be that it takes a bit of time and devotion to understand, and many people don't care enough to understand what they are getting themselves into.
Personally, I watched several youtubes about the Fedivese before I joined, and moved servers several times from April 2022 until I started my own instance in July 2023. During that time, I also left Mastodon several times because I didn't understand it + felt alone and confused.
A lifetime ago, as a small boy, I read about a man in America that set himself alight on the steps of the Pentagon, in protest against the Vietnam war. I vowed to remember him - and his name, Norman Morrison, has been with me ever since.
I don't know how everyone else has chosen to honor her, but every time this kind of thing happens, I try to accelerate.
So, instead of being afraid to fly the rainbow, I wear more rainbow stuff, more often. It's like when the pizza place was attacked with an online QAnon absurdity, and people lined up down the street to buy their pizza. That's the way to do it, I think.
I want these horror nimrods to know that the more they attack any group, the more support that we will show them.
