It also felt cool that I was probably one of the only customers asking to reproduce a drawing they were formally allowed to use thanks to #CreativeCommons ❤️
@RickiTarr I was seven, and it was not a crush but a “omg tell me everything about this subject” thing. I met a painter on a boat while on vacation with my family, he was 35 or something, and he treated me like a slightly annoying niece, as I followed him around everywhere asking questions - but I hadn't met a professional artist before.
He created a painting of a flying pink bike that he gave me when I went home, and I still have it in my parents attic, but we never had any contact after that.
@MariaLiv Two courses for me. The first one is on Tuesday evenings and will be very intense. I've got readings for each class, and then a couple of books while programming. 🥴
Second class is a database class on Thursdays and it'll be a bit easier with less reading but more practical work.
I'm the second oldest person in my class, which can be intimidating in itself, but I'm going to enjoy them both.
But for the next two years I'm going to be extremely busy.

@Loukas@seachanger Loukas, this observation feels so important, also to situations where we fight other forces in society.
I am not sure how it would work, but instead of showing a picture of Musk, maybe show pictures or the names of all the people who were negatively affected by him buying Twtr, or all the people who were put in danger or exploited by Zuckerberg exposing peoples data from Meta?
Think thumbnails, or names filling a screen, and a number on the top, increasing by the second.
@Loukas@seachanger Yes, exactly. One problem with the Fediverse might be that it takes a bit of time and devotion to understand, and many people don't care enough to understand what they are getting themselves into.
Personally, I watched several youtubes about the Fedivese before I joined, and moved servers several times from April 2022 until I started my own instance in July 2023. During that time, I also left Mastodon several times because I didn't understand it + felt alone and confused.
@RickiTarr I believe in reincarnation, and that we make soul contracts with a lot of the same souls in every incarnation, with the purpose to help each other evolve, mainly through self love.
Basically I think we are all soulmates, yes even those, or especially those, who we really can’t stand.
Because we don’t evolve by surrounding ourselves with people that don’t affect us. It’s those relationships where we are forced into growth and expansion, by love or fear, that teaches us something.
In a parallel reality I am a Italian librarian living in a stone house, with a pizza oven in the backyard.
Right now I am sitting in a hammock with a glass of gin, watching someone place mozzarella pizzas in the oven. The smell of wood, fire and boiling tomato fills the air.
@LeoR1010 Oh, that sounds so nice! I am obsessed, OBSESSED with tiny houses! 😻 Maybe I can come visit you in your parallel reality and learn how you built it?
After that course I am only one essay away from a Master, and being able to teach...
One thing that I would like to talk about, is why there are only 15 women represented in art history, from the time the sculpture Venus of Willendorf was created 28.000 years B.C., until today.
To make things worse, what I've learned about art history shows that almost all male artists had female muses, often more creative and talented than the men.
@jasonb I got the schedule today and the whole course will run until June 2024! 😳 It’s only half speed for those with a day job, but I felt a bit nervous, and thought “what if I’ve taken on too much? what if I fail? What if I am not good enough?” But then I thought about how much I like the subject, and that I’ve had 100% survival success through every other course I’ve taken. It will end with an essay and then I can take the Master.
I was a dinasour compared to the 20 year olds when I went to law school (I basically could have been their mother), and I am probably the oldest one in this course as well. But experience comes with age, there's no other way to become wiser. 💛
