I love how wild the story in Zelda has gotten. It’s like something I expect from Studio Ghibli. I’m not sure how popular this kind of writing is with mainstream western audiences but as a huge anime nerd I love it. It’s weird and tragic and I cried and I can’t wait to spend hundreds of hours in this world
I feel like playing with Japanese audio, even as someone who is not anything close to a fluent speaker, you just get so much more context from the dialog. Zelda-hime best with subs?
Okay, who else took like 20+ hrs to realize the little sign puzzles are in fact legit unique puzzles with elegant solutions and you don’t just have to just brute force them lol
Honestly, I thought I had an elegant solution with the logs and the plank until I realized you can only connect those in an angle. But this works so \o/
@danirabbit I've managed (mostly) elegant solutions on a lot of them...but there was one in particular that wound up as a brute-forced monstrosity. wish I'd taken a picture
HOW MANY FUCKING SHRINES ARE THERE?? How big is this game omg. I was like “Oh, I got 120 it’s already over how sad” and then I got 128, and 140, and there’s mooorrreee????
Also, the shrines of light that are on the surface directly correlate to a Lightroot in the depths. So where a SoL is on the surface, a lightroot is underground. Where a lightroot is underground, a SoL is on the surface (not sure about the sky). Learning that was honestly a game changer for exploring the depths cause screw the depths
No spoilers, I decided to do the big end fight and holy shit was it so good. Anybody who felt dissatisfied with the calamity Ganon fight, this fight is so good and fun and cool and epic.
Final review: absolutely deranged story, absolutely deranged gameplay, best fucking game I’ve ever played in my life 1,000,000/10
@danirabbit I loved that too! At first I thought it was a glitch, but when it kept happening, I appreciated the hell out of whoever implemented that health bar from hell.
