I don't understand whats up with my posts getting interacted with these days. It feels really random, sometimes I post something that feels like it would get a lot of traction and it gets like 3 likes and then randomly something pops off and gets a life of its own. The "non algorithm" feels very different from last year.
@liaizon I can tell something by my own behaviour. Number of accounts I follow increased significantly. I have put some effort to make some lists, but not nearly enough.
Casually I tend to scroll for some time without reaching the previously seen posts, which means I miss a number. I rarely take extra time to open lists. Also with larger amount of content I tend to stop less for interaction.
I think this experience would improve with possibility to fine-tune main timeline sorting.
@BlindHedgehog we are on the fediverse not just Mastodon. And it really depends on what you mean by an algorithm ...
There are many ways that posts can move around and all those ways change what sort of folks see them and who responds... I would describe that as basically what most people mean by an algorithm

i just a few days ago shared a rqndom somewhat "funny" post and it exploded like mad. But it's mostly bots boosting the thing. really weird. ..an endless army of bots spamming my notifications.
