@jeffowski Fundos believe that the Jews should have control of Israel because it'll user in the 2nd coming of Christ & the End of Days.
Nothing to do with the Jews having any connection to the land outside of the Bible stuff.
@jeffowski@publicvoit so, are you defending the displacement of families because other families have been displaced before? Is any crime right if it has been done before? Simple answers to complex problems just don’t cut it
@xuxxux@jeffowski Yes exactly, that's the message of this. (sarcasm off) 😉
This actually serves multiple purposes: to start discussions on things that went in the wrong direction in the past as well as current discussions that might to situations that will go wrong in the near future.
Slaughtering innocent people is always an asshole's move.
@publicvoit@jeffowski I honestly cannot make any other interpretation of that meme. Happy to see another interpretation (in honest — maybe I got the wrong angle on it) (edit: @publicvoit, thanks for the edit and explanation! Agree on „asshole move“, still think that this meme is not good)
@xuxxux@publicvoit — the meme is highlighting the absurdity of making this argument without acknowledging the stolen land under your own feet. The irony of making the argument that would mean giving the land back to the native tribes. The hypocrisy is astounding.
@jeffowski@publicvoit I somehow liked Brechts analogy better. Always looking back at past injustices prevents us from looking forward. This is not about ignoring the past. It is about not living in it. My grandparents lost everything in WW2. I hope that everybody living now on the small (and poor) farm my grandparents had, now lives a happy and rich life. I also hope that nobody else will ever be expelled like that. But it has been happening and is getting worse by the minute in Israel.
@xuxxux@publicvoit — like I’ve said before, it’s always a white dude that purposefully and willfully misunderstand a meme and filter it through the swill of their own mind to produce a response like that. I find it also most interesting that a GERMAN of all people is commenting. You want to talk but this situation wouldn’t have existed if your great grandfather didn’t support the Nazis (or cowardly stayed silent). Since you only want to go back to 1947 vs 1932.
@jeffowski@publicvoit how far is far enough? WW1? Migration of the Peoples? Homo Sapiens vs. Neanderthal? The first human? Further? My point is that the future is more important than the past.
@jeffowski
News flash! On November 29, 1947 the United Nations adopted Resolution 181 (also known as the Partition Resolution) that would divide Great Britain's former Palestinian mandate into Jewish and Arab states in May 1948 when the British mandate was scheduled to end.
@MiriShuli@johnrohde@lizstl13 — Miriam, you’re out of line.
The Wikipedia link was for a specific graphic. And that map was of the 1947 UN borders. Your insulting list of study topics is AFTER that map.
You want to nitpick and cherry-pick specific details instead of looking at verifiable facts to build a larger understanding.
It is astonishing how factionalized everyone is because they want to win useless arguments with internet strangers.
@jeffowski No they're entitled to the land because Britain and the other ally powers gave it to them after the war, the goods have been sold and integrated (for lack of a better word, much like food this land has been integrated into the body of the society that surrounds it.), they can not be feasibly given back, no more than a muffin you have digested can be given back, the issue is not with the new buyer, the issue is with the seller who sold stolen goods.
@Jazzy_Butts -- You're just proving a point I made a while ago. The UK is responsible for almost all the long standing unresolved issues in our world today.
