Yesterday, I featured MG Rover’s Streetwise in juxtaposition with the Rover 25 on which it was based. Another variation on the 25 was this slightly sportier MG version, the ZR. Like the Streetwise, the ZR was far less ‘pipe and slippers’ than the standard 25. This sort of rejuvenation measure was essential given that much of the 25’s design and tech, while sound, dated back to the Rover R8 of 1989. @davidwilkins That's about the only "exotic" car she had. I think her first one was a very basic (probably Mexican) Cox, then a bunch of Fords, 4-door Escort MK1, an Orion ... then came the Rover era with the 218SD that the dealership bought back for a higher price than the original one 😅 She then got a Rover 25, then MG ZR, and Citroens after that.
@MarSolRivas A 25 and a ZR - a true MG Rover fan! I think I’ll do a bit more on MGs and Rovers over the next few days now I’m on the subject. I’m supposed to be trying to continue with my Nissan sequence but I keep getting waylaid by connections to other cars and responses to the daily posts taking me in random different directions…
@davidwilkins 😁 The Rovers were pretty good, and in high demand hence this odd trading operation on the 218DS. Mum also probably got a bargain deal trading the 25 for the ZR 😑
@MarSolRivas The deal is the thing when you are spending your own money! Although I’m an enthusiast, I don’t get hung up on having to have my first choice/car of my dreams if I see a better deal on something else that’s pretty decent.
