The non-linear thinker in me has a hunch that the best way to solve the Israeli/Palestinian problem in the long-term is to kick Putin‘s ass out of Ukraine once and for all.

@markmetz Feels like this is a proxy war for the superpower’s agenda. China, Russia, U.S., etc.

TruthSandwich,

@markmetz

Close. Putin has to be deposed, ideally by killing him.

@TruthSandwich @markmetz I don’t think it would cause much more than chaos for a few months.

Good things might come out of that chaos. But then again even worse might arise. The neonazi-aligned have been making strong plays in Russia recently.

There’s a lot of people there that make Putin sound moderate.

TruthSandwich,

@gimulnautti @markmetz

I'm under no illusion that the Russian "liberals" are great people, but even Navalny would be an improvement.

gimulnautti,
@gimulnautti@mastodon.green avatar

@TruthSandwich @markmetz Navalny might not emerge victorious from that chaos. Just saying.

It’s a society that glorifies suffering and brutality. Liberalism is not necessarily the default option.

TruthSandwich,

@gimulnautti @markmetz

I hear you. Any of Putin's pet oligarchs could take over, instead.

Really, what would be best (for the world, that is) would be a long, drawn-out internal conflict that weakens everyone, including the eventual winner.

And, during this conflict, Ukraine purges the Russian army.

gimulnautti,
@gimulnautti@mastodon.green avatar

@TruthSandwich @markmetz Not necessarily. A perfectly viable option is that of far-right thug seizing control and ordering up general mobilization. Maybe even using nukes later along the line to boot.

TruthSandwich,

@gimulnautti @markmetz

I think it's a safe bet that anyone who reaches for the button will fall out the window. Perhaps repeatedly, until they're definitely dead.

gimulnautti,
@gimulnautti@mastodon.green avatar

@TruthSandwich @markmetz I wouldn’t be so sure. They’ve got that indoctrination by fear of total Russian annihilation unless we attack pretty well going in the propaganda department.

And you have to understand, it’s only 300km radius around Moscow and St. Petersburg that’s proper modern people with modern needs.

Majority of Russia is still people crapping in outhouses with their mainstreet made of dirt.

TruthSandwich,

@gimulnautti @markmetz

That's because Russia isn't a country, it's an empire. The periphery only exists to funnel wealth to the center.

As for how suicidal Russia is these days, I'd say that the people near enough to matter would prefer to live.

@TruthSandwich @markmetz Enough people can be bought with a Lada.

@markmetz

It for sure will help with a lot of problems in the world. Especially in the Middle East and Africa.
