@MIfoodie I think it is FANTASTIC! The defaults of the ender 3 v2 Klipper config are very good and fast. But it is not just that, the ecosystem of the plugins and tools is really much better. (I used octopi before, it is very sluggish in comparison) crowsnest for webcam monitoring is very easy to set up and configure (I had hard time gennig good quality on octo) mainsail ui and mobileraker app make monitoring and use easy. Cura plugin to send and monitor prints works great.
@MIfoodie That said, I did hear that some people were able to "tune the crap" (their words not mine) out of the marlin firmware and get similar or better speeds to what I have. But I have not even done any tuning or tried to set up input shaping yet. So who knows :)
@MIfoodie Considering how much better my printer became by just switching over to Klipper and using the provided defaults. I feel that we will see more printers throwing in an additional Rockchip into their driver boards and shipping with Klipper. (I did hear horror stories about the Creality Sonic Pad though... so who knows, they might butcher it too :D )
@esden Ender 3 v1. I was thinking about getting another printer (it being a v2) because micro center is selling them for $99 but I’m relatively new to 3d printing and only need 1 printer.
@MIfoodie Ahh ok, so my config will likely not be very useful for you. There are very good "default configs" in the klipper repository that you can use as a starting point. I have one FDM and one Resin printer. But by far the Ender is seeing much more use than the Resin printer.
@mmu_man 1) they are not just flat pieces of plastic. 2) the laser cutters at our local "fab lab" are either not working, weak or a pain in the ass to use. 3) I can run and tend to it at home, in between other tasks, no need to leave the house resulting in much less time overhead.
@mmu_man Unfortunately, I am coming to the conclusion that it makes much more sense to have the tools instead of relying on the fab lab. (too many times I went to the fab lab to just find out the tool I need in "currently broken" :( ) I do have a laser cutter purchase on my radar as it is useful for a bunch of other projects. Jigs, attachments, mockups and so on. (I know not everyone has the space for that ... I just wish folks would care for the fab lab tools more... :( )
@mmu_man I already need a workshop for the machines I have. The desktop laser cutters are quite nice these days. This is what I am considering. And would be able to do pretty much everything I need it for, without taking up a huge floor space.
@mmu_man ohh that is fantastic! Walking distance to the fab lab is essentially having a workshop right there. (tracking tools when there is a herd of other people moving them around sounds a bit like a challenge ;) )
