I've been on a muting spree lately in an attempt to make the federated timeline somewhat less unwieldy. Still, part of me wonders if the account that posts exclusively about Vietnamese spa treatments will go on to be one of the greatest posters on here and I'm going to miss out
Used to do that, but now I've decided to hide a lot of reboosts otherwise my timeline would be Trump complaints 24/7. I get he's the worse piece of 💩 but it's not worth anyone's mental health. Don't mind the occasional rant, though. Don't have a fixed quota but 10 in an hour feels like too much.
That said, I prefer to reply to interesting posts (to me, at least) instead of just boosting them.
So far, seems to be working.
@beisbolcards That's a good strategy. There's enough political talk on the internet that I'm trying to keep this a safe space away from the doomerism.
Also yea, I try not to follow people who's timelines are exclusively boosting. Ya gotta contribute something interesting for me to care. I love the fedi because there's a diverse collection of real people posting original thoughts instead of piggybacking on discourse

@rootcompute given the rise in popularity of what I consider very bizarre trends/fashions/etc in the past few years, it would not surprise me in the least if suddenly we were all talking about Vietnamese spa treatments like we had been getting them since the dawn of time...
