I love how Lower Decks, in its third season, is self-assured enough now to reference the canon it has built for itself. It's not just nostalgia (which it does really well) but it also has something to say in its own right. Didn't expect that in the beginning!
And yeah, Prodigy has surprised me, it's the perfect introduction to Trek for a younger generation.

While both are flawed, s1 and s2 at least tried to say something original, while s3 was just one long pull on our TNG nostalgia dick.
Bonus points: all the new characters of s3 (Jack, Sydney especially) were the most bland stereotypes possible, with no real internal development. Contrast this with Agnes and Rios, who were real people, and the difference is all the more staggering.
