Very sad. I've been cheering Voyager 1 on since I was a teen and discovered it's only about a year older than I am. I hope their last-ditch effort to kick it into a previous flight mode to glean engineering data proves fruitful.
Seems a bit sad to have it beaming back an unmodulated carrier though. If it's functionally braindead, it'd be nice to switch it off and let it be an inert time capsule.
