Not super excited that #JonStewart spent a big chunk of his first episode back at #TheDailyShow bemoaning the fact that Joe Biden is old, a problem we can literally do nothing about at this point.
@mikemccaffrey This feels like it's getting at a massive problem in US politics overall.
We keep failing to understand that our situation today is a result of decisions we made years ago, and instead of adopting the mindset that today's good decisions are successes for 4-12 years from now, we instead resort to this defeatist attitude because we feel like we're powerless about the situation right now.
We're not powerless! There's just a lot of lag in the system.

But that kind of is the point... We're being put in positions where we can't do anything about it. Many of us have been trying to say that we're fed up with the quality of the candidates across the board and it's about time that someone mainstream says it like it is. Nothing he said is going to push people to vote for Trump instead of Biden.
While I certainly lean left and lean more left with every step the GOP takes I still think that there is no difference between those that blindly support Republicans and those that blindly support Democrats.
It's not about doing something about Biden being old - it's about admitting that there is a problem rather than acting like he's perfect just because he's a Democrat.
@bobkmertz The quality of available party candidates is definitely something to prioritize in the leadup to future election cycles WHEN THE PRIMARIES HAVE NOT ALREADY STARTED HAPPENING.

I may be at risk of you yelling at me some more but the obvious question is why no one was listening to those that were saying this before the primaries started. This hasn't been a secret and it's been notable that many people felt this way long before Biden even announced he was running but no one seemed to care.
So many people equate "the party" from 1984 to be the GOP right now but the truth is that the Democrats aren't that far removed. This was a huge blunder by the Democrats and it very well could cost us our Democracy.

You are right, the only thing that has seemingly saved the Democrats from their blunder is the Republicans out there blundering as hard and as often as they possibly can.
Sigh, and now #JonStewart is non-apologizing after not understanding that the problem we all had was that he was just parroting the exact same talking points as everyone else instead of showing any kind of leadership.
Say what you will of #TuckerCarlson, but at least the man is out there making arguments that no one else is making (since they are completely bananas).
Also, labradoodles are highly overrated, and are not worth all the time and money people are putting into breeding them, especially when so many great dogs out there who need homes.
