@RickiTarr Hm. When I'm starting to feel irritable and tired, I've learned to say so. How? "Honey, I'm feeling irritable and tired. I need to go do some nothing for the afternoon, let me know if you need anything important. Love you!"
Polite bluntness is damned effective. Despite its awful sounding name, the term "assertive communication" leads to really good lessons on how to speak with people.
@TeflonTrout@RickiTarr I have found that politely suggesting to people that the situation I am in might lead to my becoming irritable is amazingly effective at getting them to leave me alone.
I’m never sure if it’s out of respect for my boundaries; or because they’ve seen me irritable before and want to avoid it at all costs.

“I am feeling tired & irritable & need to take a break,”
Is easy for others to ignore &/or walk over; that has yet to happen with the wildly polite:
“I would like to politely suggest that we should take a break, as I am feeling tired and may soon find myself struggling not to become irritable.”
