Nuclear powered cargo ships, how could that go wrong?!

It could go catastrophically wrong. But some context: international shipping has already gone horrifyingly wrong.

Until Obama, there were no emissions standards. And he only got some within a certain distance of most of the US coast. Ships now have two fuel tanks to comply.

Because from the cheap straight up kills people downwind of lanes, but it's a lot cheaper. It kills people of all ages, but we measure it by infant mortality

@ai6yr It depends. If we could get someone like a Hyman Rickover to run a nuclear ships program like the Navy does with its reactors then it may be viable. The Navy has (at least from what we know) an good track record with its reactors. Add to that the small reactor revolution that is ongoing it may be part of a solution. If you look at the carbon footprint of the global shipping industry and say reduce that by 50% you have something

@cvvhrn LOL it may be the solution, but only if someone watches out for safety, in a big way....

I'm curious how many movies there are about a nuclear bomb hidden on a cargo ship. 🤔
