Bought a thing; assembled it. An electronic component that shouldn’t have been dangling… was. Obvious solutions elude me. Missing part(s)? 🤷‍♂️

Nothing in the manual. Manufacturer’s website:

— no relevant info
— support chat won’t load*
— support email form won’t submit*
— phone says “US” (I’m in 🇨🇦). Call it anyway; nice lady asks if I bought from them directly. No, via 🇨🇦 retailer. “You have to call them.”

So many chances to do the right thing, all deftly avoided.

@tantramar We had the same morning. Mine involved every form of medical insurance I have...social security....basic health coverage....medicare.....prescription insurance. Every single person I talked to (for 2.9 hours) ended up saying the same exact sentences over and over and over. As though I was incapable of understanding the first time. I lost it with the last person. She never answered ANY question directly, so I hollered over her SHUT UP AND LISTEN, Still didn't get help but felt better

I swear, being exhausting is the whole point sometimes.

In my case, they actually walk you through steps — what model is it? here’s where to find the serial number… — before showing the support options. A simple “if you’ve bought directly from us” or “support is available via your retailer”, but no. No, that makes it simple.

FYI - I've found a lot of those support chats that won't open or email forms that won't submit are because of ad blockers. Turn them off? Magical working state. :|

Or you have a borderline negligent company you're dealing with. Either way.

@linux_mclinuxface I disabled “content blockers” in Safari; no help. Turning to Firefox, which I use for web design specifically because I run it stock (AND it’s far less aggressive with local caching than Safari, so I won’t wear out my Command and R keys). Same.

It was a Zendesk site. I’ve never used it, so I dunno if people love it or hate it, but it no workie for me. It may also have simply meant they were busy/unavailable, but all it had was an endless loading graphic. 🤷‍♂️
