I am thinking of picking up a new Macintosh (probably 68000 based) for and the network. I only have Macintosh classics and Apple II computers. Any recommendations? Preferably something that won’t be a hassle to hook into a monitor, will run System 7 no problem.. and maybe even in color? Also Ethernet and LocalTalk supported is a must. Thank you!

@eric An LC/Performa I, II, III, 475 could do the trick. Pizzabox form, so none of the hassle of all-in-ones. Easy to open and upgrade (including adding an ethernet card), built-in colour video that hooks into VGA pretty easily. They're reasonable little machines, even if Apple hobbled them in various ways at the time.

@billgoats @eric seconding a vote for an LC. easy to upgrade, repair and store.
