@ramsey Was this the wedding? This show was really fun to watch when everyone else was, before the downfall of Twitter. It would be fun to have a binge fest with friends of shows that have passed. I’ve got a list of shows I’d gladly rewatch if enough friends were interested.
@shiflett Yes. This was the “red wedding,” and since I’m watching it well after everyone else, and they never mention the phrase “red wedding” in the show, I didn’t realize that’s what it was.
@kboyd@derickr@shiflett I haven’t bothered with the books and likely won’t. I love reading, but it takes me forever to finish a book, so I’m very picky about what’s on my to-read list.
@derickr@kboyd@shiflett I’m reading through all novels that have won the Nebula Award for Best Novel (with detours along the way—right now, I’m reading Children of Dune, for the second time).
I’m up to year 2008 (The Yiddish Policemen’s Union), but I skipped 1992 (Stations of the Tide) because every time I try to start that book, I can’t seem to make it beyond the first few pages.
@derickr@kboyd@shiflett I’d like to try to read many of the Nebula Award nominees, too, and I just noticed Game of Thrones and A Clash of Kings were both nominated, so I might end up getting to them eventually.
@ramsey@derickr@shiflett I hadn't planned to, but I was in need of a physical book & happened to have GoT on my shelf (unread, just sitting there, for many years)
@TrickTim Oh, is that what everyone called the “red wedding?” Watching this on my own and binging it, I get none of the culture of discussing the show from week-to-week with others. So, I remember hearing about the Red Wedding, but since they don’t call it that in the show, I didn’t know that was it. I assumed the Red Wedding was coming up later at the Red Keep.
