@RickiTarr@bloodykneelers At 78, I have had it with the allegedly "helpful." My health is being managed by a team of very professional doctors, so give it a rest! The only exception I make is (occasionally) input from my physical therapist daughter.
@bloodykneelers@RickiTarr I don’t know if this might be helpful, but for shoes I really like Vessi, which are slip ons but have laces (which you can use to tighten them, or ignore). Their selling point is they’re waterproof, but they slip on and are incredibly comfortable, and generally look nice (and not like a typical slip on).
@roadriverrail It's a thickener for people to put in liquids that have trouble swallowing liquid, especially older people or people who don't have the lung capacity to cough things up

For people who often have food or liquids “go down the wrong way”. If I understand it correctly, their epiglottis doesn’t fully close so stuff can actually go down the windpipe into their lungs. (A healthy person would just cough it out)
My dad had that. But when the nurse first mentioned thick water I thought he was joking.🙃
