Lazy Saturday morning and I opened the curtains with trepidation to see if the world is a crisp, scorched wasteland from the incoming radiation and energetic particles all night.

Appears everything is alright though.

I will need to get a broom and sweep up all the protons accumulated in my driveway though. Do you put protons in the green bin or the blue box? I forget.

@Auxonic In my downtown condo I'm fairly certain it was only one day a week. I do get Canada Post parcels any day of the week, though, so that's nice. I prefer them to any other delivery company, and am always grateful when they are used. The attitude and professionalism of union workers are significantly better.

If college students really cared about war-related humanitarian disasters, we’d be seeing protests about Sudan, Syria, Yemen, etc. What we instead see is a hysterical hyper focus on the Jewish state and only the Jewish state. This is one sign of the antisemitic nature of these protests regardless of the message presented at them. These fucks could have protested the end of Roe v Wade but didn’t.

@sickmatter Biden is more vulnerable to protests against Israel than to any of the other kind. He has to honour previous defence and support agreements with Israel, not to mention supporting the considerable Jewish population in the US. But maybe it's a coincidence.

It's strange to me when I see people get upset about people doing good deeds, and posting it online.

Yeah, so what? I'd much rather see people doing nice things for attention, than the people who do mean pranks or wasting food. A good deed is still good, even if it's done for the wrong reasons.

@RickiTarr Recycling didn't take off until people saw their neighbours doing it. Posting your good deed is a way of normalizing good deeds. It makes some people think that maybe they should be doing good deeds, too.

@wall0159 @GreenFire It's a bit more complex than that. The 2% applies to the difference between the cost of doing things the old way and the new. And renewables energy is cheaper than fossil energy at the moment, so there's more to apply to more difficult transitions (eg airlines, cement). In fact, we may already be at peak fossil energy consumption.

The first step in turning bacon fat into lard for #SoapMaking is to clean the grease, aka render it.
Place grease into a pot with twice as much water as grease. Bring to a boil and boil for 15 minutes, until grease and water are well combined. Don't allow this mixture to boil over or you'll start a fire. After boiling, refrigerate until the grease hardens. The grease will float to the top and the water and impurities will sink. Scoop the grease from the top and save it. Discard the dirty water.
