Okay, this getting frustrating. I'm on the Vivaldi Social instance but when I use the instance in the Vivaldi browser, if the instance sits idle for a few hours, it locks up and then crashes the browser. It can stay idle all day in Firefox and works fine when I come back to it. And again, like a few times in the past, I can no longer see Vivaldi (or tag them) here on Mastodon. I can see others on the instance just fine. I can't even reach out to them about the issue. This is why I've tried other instances in the past but moving to a new instance just pisses people off. Trust me, I've receive a few unpleasant messages about the move and then requesting a new follow.

Hey @cmccullough!
That's bizarre! 🤔

Have you tried deleting cookies and cache for Vivaldi Social? If not, you can do it from the padlock icon on the Address Bar > Cookies and Site Data.

Also, when you try tagging us, do you type just "@Vivaldi" or "@Vivaldi"?

@Vivaldi Thanks! I actually clear cookies and cache each day.

When I tag you, I usually use @Vivaldi. Doing this didn't even find you again.

This is all very strange. I have no idea what is going on.

@cmccullough Strange. I use for everything, including having Mastodon in an open tab 24/7/365. It doesn't lock or crash the browser. I'm tagging @Vivaldi here in this message. Maybe they've got some silver bullet for you?

@mike @Vivaldi Thanks for tagging them, Mike. I use Vivaldi and don't experience issues with anything else. The Mastodon instance has been acting like this since day one for me. I really have no idea what could be causing it. It will do this on my desktop and laptop. I can always tell when the whole thing is about to crash, too. I simply click on something in Mastodon and nothing happens. I know that a few second later, it's all over for the browser and I have to restart it.

@cmccullough Hm, I used to have trouble with Vivaldi and Mastodon when I did horizontal scrolling in the advanced UI, but whatever was causing that seems to have been resolved either in recent versions of Mastodon or recent versions of Vivaldi, because it doesn't do that anymore. Hopefully it's something @Vivaldi has seen before and they'll have a quick answer for you.

@mike @Vivaldi Thanks, again, Mike, for tagging them for me. I appreciate the help.

@mike @Vivaldi Actually, wish I had a separate Mastodon account to run in Vivaldi for a while to see how it acts. I'm not sure if it's a Vivaldi instance issue or Mastodon, in general, issue.

@cmccullough Easy enough to just create a burner account somewhere. I could see about re-enabling your old Fosstodon account if you'd like? You deleted the account, so all the stuff that used to be there is gone, but you could use it for testing purposes?
