@Adam_Cadmon1 There is nothing benign about any part of Uber's or Lyft's business model (or their copycats elsewhere in the world). There's fundamentally four parts to the plan:
— Destroy existing taxi service by undercutting it
— Get driver labor as close to net free as possible, denying drivers benefits by classing them as contractors
— Eventually replace human drivers altogether with automation
— Once 100% of fares go to the company, jack fares up as far as the unregulated market will bear

In the rare markets where government forces them to play by the rules, they declare it "unfair" and pull out.
