Anyways if you told me in 2015 that Mark Zuckerberg was going to physically fight Elon Musk to defend the honour of ActivityPub I would have tried to pass my hand through your face to see if you were a hallucination and yet here we are

I'm not quite as up on the technology as you are, but yeah - I did not have "Elon vs. Zuckbot" on anything resembling a bingo card.
What I don't understand, is how the hype is possibly real. This isn't two school yard bullies beating each other up in a parking lot. They are billionaires. This will be measured and grifted upon if it ever goes through.

That's the reason for the hype. It's fodder for podcasts, punditry, placing bets, all promising potential profit off people's preference for punch-lines
@evan Zuck seems pretty shredded but Elon’s a much larger man and has been drowning himself in Testosterone and HGH for a few years now the way only dudes born in the 70s seem to do. Honestly I would expect Elon to win handily but if the arena also could cave in during the middle of the fight that would be the best option for the world at large.
@bflipp Musk is big, fat, and slow. Zuck is very fit, does a lot of sports and trains martial arts (he's even winning local tournaments). I wouldn't be so sure about Musk winning.
However you think of it, remember that it is a marketing strategy. Zuck is victorious, becomes Activitypub's hero. People fall to their knees in awe and join Meta instances, and it grows and grows and grows, eclipsing the rest of the Fediverse.
They are planning the Extend part of EEE even before the app is done.
They are preparing. Question is, will we be prepared?
