@jerry I am slowly but surely working on an iOS app with the intent of supporting as many fediverse flavors as makes sense. May end up being more than one if there’s too much divergence to cook into one UI. Admittedly I haven’t spent much time at all looking at Calckey but assuming the API is reasonable, I’ll add it to my list.
@jerry it’s funny because there is a several year old iOS app called CalcKey already in the AppStore. But it’s a calculator app inside of iMessage which seems like a strange idea, but it does man Fedi CalcKey apps will have to use some other name. This app is what most web search hits end up being about. Makes you realize how near invisible Fedi CalcKey is online.
My understanding is that we're in an awkward situation where we've got a standard for server-to-server comms but not so much for server-to-client.
The masto API has been the focus of clients, due to numbers, but that API isn't a standard, and so here we are. ActivityPub apparently has a server-client spec (I'm naive on details) that hasn't been taken up. Evan has said he'll write about that soon.
End result seems to be a lot reinventing the wheel and NIH for UI/app options.
