It kind of sucks that "adult toy" is a euphemism for "sex toy." Like sure, those are all well and good, but what about poseable figures that break if you look at them the wrong way, or gunpla, or ESP32-C6 dev boards, or completely impractical computers that beg to be called cyberdecks, or 3D printers, or infrared cameras, or overly fancy drones, or record players and vinyl albums, or anything that still has a floppy drive in 2024?
It's ok and good to be playful. I know "adulting" has come to mean having to deal with the crushing responsibilities of life under capitalism, but... we can't survive if it's all bad.
(Another addendum: pointing out that many of these can be enjoyed by kids, too, doesn't contradict that they are adult toys. Something can be both for kids and adults... we can indeed play together, even.)
@xgranade We could start to normalize this by talking about going to the adult toystore and acting like we don't know what they mean when normies react. 😂
@xgranade I feel like that's less true when speaking, actually, and instead depends on how you emphasize syllables in "adult”: ad-ULT toy is the sex things, AD-ult toy is the mechanical keyboards and 3D printer sets.
Of course, on the internet nobody knows you're not a horndog.
