Are we watching the modern monarchy crumble? There's something about all this that feels like pre-World War 1 empire collapse. Where are we in our historical bingo card?
@RickiTarr if it weren’t for social media, I’d say we’re in October or November 1847. I don’t think populations in EU or NA are capable of a summer of revolutions.
Kinda too bad, too, because we’ll also never get a “Blood and Iron” speech for a modern generation, either.
@Octale People are predictable, but technology has certainly thrown a wrench into it, in both positive and negative ways, of course it's only a tool, but still interesting to ponder.
@RickiTarr The old guard is being eclipsed by the new plutocracy, where money is all that matters, because it buys so much and so many people lust after it.

And that's worrisome-when money outstrips everything else in life it makes life a sad existence for those who never get enough.
@paul The sad thing is, I feel like the younger generations are more open minded and ready for a better and more equitable world, but these poisonous fuckers are so entrenched and ready to play their swan song
@RickiTarr@paul Hey I'm one of the old fuckers, a child of WWII, Korea, Segregation, Race Riots, JFK, Martin Luther King, The Cold War, Vietnam..... And my druthers is that the young folks don't come near to going thru all that shit. And yes I got kids who got kids. And yes I'm a Boomer but haven't lost sight of what the young folks are dealing with. But one thing you gotta remember, in every generation you got the Good, the bad and the ugly. I prefer the Good.
