Many of my followers may not realize this, but California's economy is larger than many, many countries. I bring that up because it helps put into context what a milestone this is.
Earlier this week, for the first time in that large diverse economy with a huge population, the largest source meeting their electricity demand was batteries that had been charged from sunlight earlier in the day.
Oh yeah, and that reminds about another energy transition story I'll post in reply.
So, I agree with what Richard Thompson (man I think I've forgotten his name perhaps, but anyways not too important) recently said in one of his articles that the recent panic about our electricity load growth is being foisted on the public by the fossil fuel industry trying to get taxpayers to quickly build more methane burning power plants.
It's been a conundrum in my climate advocacy that I have to try to debunk conspiracy theories yet we do not have evidence for ours about that industry.
