My current TV died before the longevity/price ratio of my last TV (that I had fixed once) and I'm not even going to try to fix it. I know the crazy number of complicated factors why, but it still makes me sad.
On closer inspection I see that the LCD still works, it's just the backlight that doesn't. I suppose due diligence requires that I look into its fixability.
it's disturbing how much of an upset to my daily routine a dead TV was, but with a smashed rotator cuff I'm leaning into it. When it heals priorities will be rearranged.
