Does anybody have a thunderbolt docking station they can PERSONALLY recommend? Do not just google and paste it here. You need to have used it to verify it's not a piece of shit.
I need:
two monitor displayport (THAT ACTUALLY WORKS -- it usually doesn't even if the specs say it does)
@RustyCrab I have this one at uni: Dell Dock – WD19S 130 W. it works with Linux and Windows and can do 2 monitors, but I only tested one very big one and a smaller resolution one at once. it only has 2 full USBs, but my monitor has a hub or whatever it's called.
@RustyCrab oooh, I only get disconnects when I plug in other USB things into the laptop itself and not the docking station, so I thought it was a laptop issue :kaia_look:
@kaia I've tried with something like 16 hardware combinations and it happens to all of them so my co conclusion is the device does not work right with anything. From what I've seen on the market they're basically all like this for displayport
I'd like to just stop using them altogether, but every time I need something, there's literally no place I can just drive to to buy that thing. Stores don't carry anything anymore. And half the time I go to brand websites, you click on "buy" and it just fucken links to Amazon :kek_aaaaaa:

Everything else, in my town at least, was nothing but no name chinese knockoff products. However that's a result of half the decent stores closing in my city since covid.
The stickers they use for prices feel like they look intentionally 'off brand'. I really feel like it's intentional to mentally associate their store with cheapness.
Sam's club, owned by the same people, isn't like this.

Absolutely do not go for this shit. 8GB of Ram nowadays for a new laptop is a complete joke and the minute you start customizing it on Apple's website for more RAM and SSD space they charge you about 4+ times the money it's worth
