I’ve spent the past few days driving across the country. The natural beauty of Arkansas and of Oklahoma surprised me. The aggressive, creepy white Christian evangelical vibe of western Tennessee did not surprise but it disturbed me. The Texas panhandle was as nuts as I anticipated. Some billboard messages from Texas follow. 1/

@heidilifeldman ah Tennessee. That's where I live. People love their trump flags here and there are some bizarre religious billboards. Here are a couple in Alabama that make me roll my eyes.

Jennifer...

Have you seen one that says something to the effect of "there is proof for God" with a pic of an infant..?? Have that one here in North Texas.

Think it might be the same "truth" phone number...

@lupus_blackfur We passed those in Tennessee as well as Texas. @Jennifer

From billboards in the Texas panhandle: “Stop abortion trafficking”; “Male and female: God’s miraculous design”; “Biden is tyranny”. 2/

On a more unexpected note, came across this billboard message in western Oklahoma: “Protect abortion. Stop policing our bodies.” 3/

In Texas, we saw several billboards advertising Indian food in Hindi, seemingly aimed at the Punjabi truck drivers passing through. Hadn’t expected that. 4/

@heidilifeldman Laramie, WY. Note he's against those big city (pop 30k) Laramie socialists

@heidilifeldman This is the billboard I’d like to see put up in the deeply red states… maybe it would get some of them to mask up. Sharing the info with some dyed in the wool MAGA couldn’t hurt. Even the ones complaining about it would spread the message as well.

@heidilifeldman A few years back I was amazed to find so many billboards for vasectomy reversal while driving through those parts. Surely there’s more to the story, rooted in a church, a radio personality, and/or a conspiracy theory.

@heidilifeldman during peak covid I saw. “Fight tryanny. Eat hoarse paste”
