@vaartis fun fact, federal w-2 forms only started permitting ssn masking a few years ago. if you were still receiving them by mail, it would just be written in plain text. moreover, when i applied for my ssn, they refused to print it at the office and told me it would be mailed to me within 3-7 days. and that's just what you can get by mail, im not even counting data leaks where you can just put it together (because some orgs mask the last 4 numbers, and some mask the first 5)
