@sterophonick The whole rant came about because another employee on Apple silicon could not run a customer's VPN client because it was only available for x86 devices.
He knows. He's just got a really twisted view on these technologies.
it's common knowledge that x86 is dying, The only reason it's still being used in desktop computers is for compatibility with older proprietary software.
RISC based processors like ARM are a lot more power efficient. Free software operating systems have been able to run on ARM for well over a decade now.
Apple already stopped using x86, and microsoft is working on porting their systems to ARM.
Though I hope RISC-V eventually replaces ARM
@mitch He literally said "If you're a developer, you need to be running x86." Now I'm starting to question his awareness and knowledge of the tech industry as a whole.
