@garthbeagle@likesoldmacs@NanoRaptor Indeed. Had to get mine replaced. Seems like so many have bad feelings about the 6400 (and the Performa line in general). My first two Mac’s were the 476 and 6400 and I loved them both. They served me well as a teen. I definitely did every upgrade that was supported on the 6400, so I made it last.
@freehours9@garthbeagle@likesoldmacs The Q605 (no real difference to a 476) is my fave practical mac, and my 6400 - later a 6500 board in it, then the same parts in a black 5500 - acted as my home linux server for many years. Both were very good little Macs.
Never had a 6400 or 6500 where the subwoofer did anything but mumble though!
@garthbeagle@freehours9@likesoldmacs Ha - one of my MDDs is full-volume boot chime all the time. I have to hold my finger on the speaker to dampen it lest it wake the neighbours.
