In ~10 minutes the only electrician who bothered to return our phone calls will be arriving, after
about 6 months of waiting.
I have to make a choice:
"femme it up" in hopes of increasing my meager chances of passing.
"butch it up" and go through multiple days of trauma as he works on our house.
I'm choosing 1, because "fuck you this is my house". Unfortunately tradespeople have a tendency to be extra trump-loving around here. So, this'll be trauma no matter what.
On the up-side I found some old glasses that I can mostly see through, that aren't 100% thick black square things & i'll be wearing a mask.
And yes, this - with ripped jeans on the bottom - is about as "girlie" as I get.
I need to write a blog post about that, because i never saw #transgender women like me when I was new to this. Tomboy "Vermont lesbian" is actually an option on the table.
🧵 3/2 ooh I just found another pair of old glasses‡ that may actually be "femme" ? maybe? I dunno. I think they look more femme. I'm going with these. Also, they're way closer to my current prescription, so I can read text! oooh. ahhh. ;)
Also i put on a fleece-thing because i'm feeling vulnerable, and that helps.
Having a contractor visit your house shouldn't be traumatic! 😡
side note: I started going through all the "womens" glasses on Zenni a while ago and 99% of them looked like absolute garbage on me in the "virtual try on" thing and there were SO many that i just gave up.
Why are shapes gendered?! Why are colors gendered?! Why can't a boy wear "cat-eye" glasses unless they're a "flaming homosexual"‡. Why is a girl "butch" if she wears rectangular ones?
‡ 🤔 Is that still the current term for really femmy gay guys? Is there something more acceptable?
