ai6yr,

What in the world from Disney is advertising Bluetooth around here?!?!

ai6yr,

Hmm, one of my solar controllers has Bluetooth enabled by default. Password was 000000. 😱

@ai6yr That's a good catch

ai6yr,

So, it's possible to find controllers people have not connected to with Bluetooth and reset their codes, and then proceed to either cause them to shut off or overcharge batteries (which could cause the batteries to explode or leak, or cause a fire). 😬

Didn't think I'd be pen testing my solar power setup in the shed, LOL.

ai6yr,

The Disney Bluetooth advertisement is almost certainly one of the ones in my household, and the Disney App. 😬

@ai6yr is there a Disney theme park entry bracelet or pass somewhere in the house?

ai6yr,

@douglasvb Yes, there's a Disney theme park app (required to get onto certain rides).

@ai6yr so the app is leaking the Bluetooth from your phone? Interesting. Probably allows your phone to be tracked back to you more easily in public where businesses have those Bluetooth tracking devices setup.

ai6yr,

@douglasvb Not sure... but probably.

@ai6yr @douglasvb other possible options: astromechs from galaxy's edge (built lightsabers too I think?), magic bands, some of the made with magic ear hats that have BLE, i think that's everything that DLR has with BLE, WDW uses it more

LabSpokane,

@ai6yr This is known as, “Leisure Suit Larry Mode” where the device will try to amorously pair with any device walking by.

ai6yr,

@LabSpokane LOL that's hilarious

Viss,
@Viss@mastodon.social avatar

@ai6yr so disney uses btle for those weirdo tracker wristbands they use for .. something. i forget, im not in the disney cult myself, but apparently theres a pass you can get that gets you ... something? and the underlying tech is that "its just a a btle beacon with a wristband they charge an exorbitant amount for"

m501,
@m501@mastodon.social avatar

@Viss @ai6yr yeah, disney bluetooth MagicBand (tm)

bud_t,
@bud_t@m.ai6yr.org avatar

@ai6yr what BT sniffer app are you using?

ai6yr,

@bud_t Loaded rfparty on Android for fun

ve3qbz,
@ve3qbz@mastodon.radio avatar

@ai6yr @bud_t interesting..might have to check that app out

ai6yr,

@ve3qbz @bud_t It's primitive but lots of good info. Trying th Linux app, but same thing (prototype level software, but lots of valuable things I am finding)

ai6yr,

Interesting... this is either a "Magic Band" or one of the phones in our house is now advertising itself to Walt Disney as a result of loading the "My Disney Experience" app. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/star-wars-galaxys-edge/bluetooth-low-energy/

m501,
@m501@mastodon.social avatar

@ai6yr oh wow. If an app, that would suck - and their advice is to disable Bluetooth for the whole device?

ai6yr,

@m501 I'm sure you can disable the app from running in the background, too.
