Starting to see the ai-generated item descriptions on eBay listings and they're weeeeird. They're like these overly wordy crappy little technical manuals 😂
@jake4480 The usual giveaway is when the first paragraph congratulates you for searching for "Steering wheels for grapefruit"; the next two explain what a grapefruit and a steering wheel are; then three or four lengthy repetitions of the same word salad of synonyms for "grapefruit" and "wheel"; and by the end you still have no idea where to find or how to fit a steering wheel for your grapefruit.
@jake4480 I recently used ChatGPT to write some 2nd hand marketplace listing descriptions. First draft was extremely e-commerce targeted. Told it to dumb it down, make it less commercial and got a nice text :-).
@jake4480 It does seem that AI generated text tends to be longer and more repetitive than human written text for the same thing, since it's cheap to produce more and didn't take extra effort to the person making it crank out more and makes them feel more productive.
Saving some time for one producer, wasting a lot of time to a whole bunch of readers. Great. #enshittification
@jake4480 And since it tends to be inconsistent I waste even more time, going back to the previous paragraph thinking "Wait, what? didn't it just say the opposite earlier?"
