Today journalist, labor union- and feminism-activist Sepideh Qolian (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sepideh_Qolian) was released from Evin Prison in Tehran after four years, reports the Free Trade Union of Iran.

Upon release from Evin Prison in Tehran, Sepideh Qolian stated
"Khamenei* Zahak**, I will kill you under the ground!"

  • = the "Supreme" Leader of Iran
** = The tyrant that was defeated by Kaveh the Blacksmith, which is what's celebrated as New Year ("Newroz") right now.

Going on to say that,
"After four years and seven months, I was released from the Haft Tappeh [labor organizing/journalism] case. This time I came out hoping to free Iran! Hoping for the release of my loved ones especially [listing some prisoners]".

About two hours ago plainclothes "security" forces kidnapped Sepideh Qolian while the working class- and feminism-activist was traveling from the prison release today in Tehran, at the time in a car between Qom (~130km SW of Tehran) and Arak (~130km WSW of Qom) while going to Dezful (~200km SW of Arak, SW part of Iran).
At first they tried to grab the mother too, but then left the mother at the side of the road instead.

So that's about 7 hours of freedom after 4 years, 7 months in torture-prison.
Never trust authoritarians.

From the teachers' union (the radical "Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers' Trade Associations") about an hour ago, a rough translation:

Sepideh Qolian's release for a few hours and her re-arrest

Yesterday, the news of Sepideh Qolian's release and video on her Twitter account [the video in the second toot of this thread] created indescribable joy in the hearts of all those who know Sepideh or just heard her name. However, this joy did not last for several hours when news of Sepideh's re-arrest by 20 officers of the Evin Prosecutor's Office was published.

According to the reports published in various media, Sepideh Qalian was arrested by the security forces just hours after her release, on the way to Dezful. Qalian's family is at the Arak intelligence headquarters to follow up the situation of Sepideh Qalian, and they have not yet been given any information about Sepideh's arrest.

Most excellent Sepideh Qolian was sentenced to an additional 2 years imprisonment "for a slogan after her release" according to Sepideh's brother, which a court decided was "insulting the leader".

It is in fact any legislation criminalizing insulting of "officials" as if above and worthy of particular protection from the people that is an insult to humanity,
regardless of where.

Sepideh Qolian was sentenced to an additional 2 years imprisonment, banned from joining political/social groups, from using smartphones and from being in Tehran and neighboring provinces for 2 years,
reported the Free Trade Union of Iran today.

The extremely inspiring feminist political prisoner Sepideh Qolian, currently in for yet another imprisonment of three years in the infamous Evin Prison, Tehran, today began an indefinite hunger strike with the serious demand to transfer for the prison where their family lives.

Due to the several previous hunger strikes Sepideh has a gastric ulcer, so there is a high risk of drastic negative effects.

Environmental activist Sepideh Kashani was released yesterday after 6 years in the infamous Evin Prison, Tehran, while the original sentencing was for 8 years imprisonment.

Kashani asked for a release gift, that fellow feminist political prisoner Sepideh Qolian would end their indefinite hunger strike which many feared would endanger Qolian's life,
so... Qolian gave Kashani that gift, ending the hunger strike.

Aww! :-) <3

@b9AcE the image of abolition is the image of prisoners coming home and embracing their loved ones

@mich_abolition Yes, always very wonderful imagery.
Several times a week I see mostly labor/trade union members imprisoned for union activism under the Iran-theocracy getting released and there's hugs and flowers and... :-)))
