China's Mars Rover Finds Recent Evidence of Water Near the Equator

Scientists working with China's Zhurong Mars Rover announced that they had discovered evidence of water much farther from the poles than ever seen before. Zhurong saw salt-rich dunes with cracks and crusts that could have been formed from melting frost or snow. The dunes are young, no older than a few hundred thousand years at most, so the water must have been deposited since then. Unfortunately, Zhurong has been offline for several months, with its solar panels clogged by Mars dust.
