Thinking through the Reddit crisis, I'd recommend that @ernest and @dessalines contact the creators of the most popular reddit clients and work together to piece a bridge that would take the calls that were made to #reddit and translate them into API calls that would go to #lemmy and #kbin
Having those clients run in the same way against the #fediverse equivalents would reduce friction for end-users and potentially help a lot of moderators who rely on them.
@TNLNYC@ernest@dessalines isn't the entire reason Reddit crisis happened is because they won't be able to make Reddit API calls without paying outrageous prices in the first place?
@Bidgehop@ernest@dessalines Yes. That is the point... so if apps could easily transition to making calls to #kbin (or #lemmy ) without having to rewrite all the API calls they were making (just redirecting), it would allow all those apps to quickly become Kbin or lemmy clients.

Somebody's already working on that exact thing, I saw a project on GitHub that took Reddit style API calls and basically converted them to Lemmy calls (could have sworn it was Lemmy) to act as a bridge for current Reddit apps. @Bidgehop@ernest@dessalines
