We just granted €3000 to @LemmyDev and €333 to @ernest to support the new #threadiverse who already has hundreds of "subs" and thousands of users.
This grant is part of our engagement with the @copiepublique initiative that gathers companies who pledged to share profits to grant #FLOSS and #digitalCommons.

It sucks that they can't go to places like #Discord. Or here, but here; things they would want. Are not present within #Mastodon or the #Fediverse.
I Roleplay / write stories with others, have been for 25+ years. So far, there is no #Roleplay area's within the Fediverse. That is why I can not wait until there is one.

Know why it's trending? Due redditors aka forum loving people leaving because of #redditblackout#redditmigration . So in fact they are Fediverse forums/link agregators. Federation is a major thing as well, but it's easier to search random community posts.
It makes me sad that an open source project that has a community on Reddit held a vote to leave and most users voted to stay.
What makes it worse is that I missed the vote because we were boycotting Reddit, then I just quit Reddit, so I didn't even know about the voting.
I get it that many open source projects run on volunteers, and their time can be stretched, and sometimes the easy way wins, but I still don't like it.
Canadian friends, I applaud this push for a boycott of Facebook and Instagram August 23rd and 24th. I understand it's to encourage those companies to let Canadians share news again.
But don''t stop there. OPT OUT FOR GOOD. Canadians don't need the "social" giants--for news or anything else. We need an independent media sharing infrastructure away from those toxic tools. Get off for good, invest in independence, resilience and community connection, and don't look back.
@cyberlyra A two-day boycott will in the long term mean nothing for a giant like Meta. Learn from reddit users protesting the fiasco there in June. The two-day #redditblackout came and went and now it’s like nothing ever happened.
Blackouts need to be indefinite or until real, positive change comes. No union would strike for two days and then go back to work under the same conditions.
As an aside, any reason to ditch Zuck’s empires is a good one.

I would agree that Mastodon.social where I first went was more simple and not fun but I left #reddit so I wasn't looking for fun interactions only good place to be after #redditblackout ended up being more and more dirt showing about #reddit as a whole.
TLDR Use Mastodon.social for news, Kbin.social is my replacement for reddit but many are same as me lurkers not content creators so unless good topic forum is pretty silent and now Misskey.io also .... which is fun but has it's own problems... just you won't think about them as it is generously fun instance and there is not enough "bad people" that will group up and harass you.
So for now it is safe space and ability to just mute people, ban people and ban instances and Misskey has word ban in settings( I guess you won't see note's with specific words? don't know really).
But I can agree with arguments in quoted article...

This led to #redditblackout and Reddit didn't budge but 3pled down and persecuted FREELANCE moderators to obey them and not to protest. Which is why I and some of the others left. Most gone to Kbin/Lemmy. I gone Mastodon>Kbin> Misskey and also explore Hubzilla. So I use all 4 and try to help #arknights Global community to grow, as Misskey.io already have big #Arknights presence but isolated from all others Fediverse instances. So I hope to make Misskey/Mastodon and others Twitter likes to interact with Kbin/Lemmy forum like instances and make federation and every Services/Servers to be more appealing for an average user.

You can't directly make OP post from Misskey/Mastodon in Threads aka forum section of Kbin but in Microblog section can be easily with #marknights which magazine/community/subforum listens. Add in Settings>Navigation bar Lookup function and use this old style search paste this link https://kbin.social/m/arknights/t/190145/MEGATHREAD-What-the-Firelight-Casts-is-now-Open and to comment on a megathread here . You can also make Kbin or Lemmy(not advised) for threads/forum posts.
@Kevin11 Well first saw news about Apollo getting basically robbed and started watching for top posts from Relay app. When Blackout hit looked alternatives and registered on Mastodon.social by default. Started to listen to #reddit#redditblackout and observe situation. Found out that r/Arknights the game I am mostly involved in for last 2 years made Discord. Joined them and later joined @arknights . People who joined Discord are not privy to go back to reddit but not many gone Fediverse too. From Moderators heard that vote was split and they decided to keep on going and have Discord as "temporary" solution. Changed my focus from Reddit news to Arknights and exploring fediverse. Made @kotking Funkwhale account for fun, @kotking Hubzilla account and try to use it but.... it's site constructor so without webdesign knowledge no dice... also I broken somehow profile page.... Later met few people and found out about another mass migration and some of official AK artists gone Misskey.io while Misskey.io didn't federate with Mastodon.social (they started recently) ... so found out how to get invite and use this @kotking as my Art collection for Arknights account. I’m trying to see who is still active on Lemmy and try to unite the electrical engineering community together. I’ve noticed that a lot of the old reddit.com/r/embedded (and other such subreddits) seem to have come during the #RedditBlackout, but then kind of went back to Reddit (maybe??) after the whole Blackout event ended.
I’m posting at !microcontrollers personally. But I’m just drifting around, looking for the community. There’s a pretty active poster at lemmy.ca talking about his Maple Syrup microcontroller stuff as well. See !arduino. For me personally, I’m going to write a few more beginner-level posts and see what sticks.
I’m not really sure where I’m going with this, but I did notice that you’ve posted recently (just 2 days ago) and are likely in the same boat as me (looking for the Electrical Engineering community on Lemmy). Its probably best if we kept in touch and tried to coordinate where to post.
I’ve been using search-lemmy.com and using various keywords to try to find posts like yours and active communities around. In case you also want to randomly search / look for other discussions. I’m not doing much magic myself, just searching and talking where I show up.
From my first impression of #Mastodon. People here are a lot more welcoming then on #Twitter for new people. Everyone here has welcomed me with open arms. I appreciate that a lot.
@blissfulmun I have many accounts on social media, but only #reddit was my real social media. From there I heard about SMO (Ukraine-Russia war) first and many many little stories about hobbies, life tips and so on. All from my mobile phone via Relay. Last month we learned that they want to extort 3rd party apps so my Relay will go under. You don't want to see Reddit official app with "posts" that are ads and you can advertise your post with $. #redditblackout > #redditmigration and here I am.
@resurrexia Oh same , There was a lot of bad and ugly things brought out during #redditblackout , Like how Shithead said I like to listen to my Buddy 🍈 ! And many many details. I was like well never again reddit and joined R/Arknights on discord and we started Magazine and I try some things with Fedi. Btw Thanks to :melon: a lot of artist jumped to Mastodon/Misskey and so on. You can't follow artist from Misskey due...default setting=no federation. But you can follow fan artists!

To communicate you either need to have followers or good use of #. Search engine works only on # (not more than one) but you can add as many in post as you like. Share with people that joined with you so they don't feel screaming in void to ask help. Good luck exploring Mastodon!
Well everyone, it's the first week in July, and #Reddit CEO Steve Huffman is still a lying asshat who treats Redditors as voiceless resources to exploit. So, as promised, I'm off Reddit and out of r/zfs for good.
The good news is, Practical ZFS is up and running as a replacement, with more than 100 registrations in its first day online and more continuing to come in. I hope to see you there soon!
