New Scientist is not the name of the comic. @NewScientist is not the comic strip itself but the publication as a whole.
Candelestine, The crabs can use the lasers to cut each other apart into an orbiting debris field that reduces incoming solar radiation.
The eel migration book would be much harder. Assuming you want it to be any good.
