As more and more people see Musk for the dick/fascist that he is it will continue to drop. He'd do well do 'offload' twitter now and mitigate the damage - but I doubt he will because his narcissism won't allow it 😆
@GottaLaff The personal negativity in this thread is upsetting. Overall, the decline in EV sales is bad as people buy gas cars instead (or continue driving uneconomical cars because they can't afford a new one). Just because Musk is a total asshole, does not mean Teslas are bad cars. They are a decent value. It's scary to think that people might vandalize them or judge the owner for these weak reasons.
@phi1997@GottaLaff Sadly EV sales are down. There are many reasons for that. But I dream of a time when we have safe and efficient vehicles, less noise and cleaner air.

@GottaLaff@phi1997@idoubtit I wouldn't buy a Tesla, I know too much about them and about Tesla's fuckery of customers and I won't support Musk. But I'd buy a Volvo hybrid or EV (although the first thing I'd do would be to turn off several of the driver interferences, er, sorry, I mean "assists".
(The driver "assists" are possibly actual assists if you can barely drive. But IMO if you're a bad enough driver that they actually do help, you probably shouldn't be driving in the first place.)

I'm iffier about the auto-parking features on various cars, but those ones, I like a lot.
@GottaLaff@idoubtit@phi1997 I should clarify there are passive "assists" on my 2013 Volvo like blind spot detection and backup proximity alarm, that I do find helpful. But new models like the 2023 XC90 we had as a service loaner last year include a "steering assist" function that is constantly taking control of the steering and making little herky-jerky unnecessary "corrections" ... and it's horrible. That was the first thing I turned off.

Chinese EVs - grossly underpriced and over produced, are selling like hot cakes in Europe. They have 5 star safety ratings and so far they haven't gone up like torches.
@JGR0@idoubtit@GottaLaff I've had a different experience. I've had a Tesla for seven years and never had a major problem (and very few minor problems). I've owned a Chevy, a Ford, a couple of Hondas, an Acura, a Mercedes and an Audi, but the Tesla is my favorite car I've ever had.
But I'll never give that man another dollar (and, had I known who he really was, I wouldn't have 7 years ago).
@hrbrmstr@JGR0@idoubtit@GottaLaff I did say "no major problems" -- and recalls are pretty standard in my experience (every new car I've ever purchased has had recalls, some serious). Most of the Tesla recalls were fixed "OTA" that is, over the air, meaning I didn't even have to bring the car in for the recall.
As I said I'd never give them another dollar, but honestly after nearly 35 years of car ownership, this is the best one.
@GottaLaff Wondering how comparable that is to other vehicle manufacturers. At this point in American history, how many big corporations are giving customers a fair deal?
@idoubtit No idea. But so far, the only documentation I’ve seen of deceptive stats is from Tesla. Too bad, because until I read about that, I could justify seeing Teslas on the road because EVs.
Now I can’t even do that. Another article (I need to find time to find it) talked specifically about how Teslas are manufactured in a way that actually is way more polluting than they claimed (and more than others as I recall), so another reason they’re not “clean” + how deceptive their PR is.

@peachfront Exactly right. And if you can't afford an EV, there are hybrids or high mileage gas cars (ugh, but may be the only option for some). But Tesla is a deceptive outfit with poorly made cars that actually do pollute more than claimed, have racist workplaces, and don't have nearly the range they say they do. @idoubtit
@GottaLaff@peachfront It’s not possible to have a discussion about complex topics on social media feeds. My original point was that Teslas are a decent car for many people. The hate dished out in response, due to one associated big mouthed jerk, is out of proportion. Not trying to sell anyone on the car, just saying it isn’t so black/white as people want to believe.
@idoubtit I agree, things get lost in social media convos. My only point is how his cars have been documented to be everything I already said. + that I only condemn Tesla owners who know better, or who support him. @peachfront
@GottaLaff@peachfront Focus on one car brand for all those bad things is ignoring a general problem across the board wtih those same things (rare earth metals, unionization, quality control, etc.). I certainly wish every single day that Elon Musk would take one of his own rockets into space. And I wish for better EVs for customers.
@idoubtit Lol, love your rocket idea. Oh, I agree, but since Teslas are so prevalent and overrated, and because their practices and boasts are egregiously deceptive, widely acknowledged/confirmed, documented, and because Musk is so despicable, the attention is focused on them. @peachfront
@GottaLaff@peachfront@idoubtit I have a 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV. It cost $27k and had a $7.5k tax credit. It was actually cheaper than the gas SUVs at the dealership.
