Is soured a term of art used in woodworking circles? I tried to look up a definition and failed.

I wondered if "soured" meant that it had been part of alcoholic preparation, the way some turners prize oak from vats.

@arose62 @jbm No preparation has been done. It is a natural reaction when wood ages under bark and if left alone, it would eventually become rotten.

@jbm In Norwegian it is called sur-bjørk, so soured is a direct translation. As mentioned, I didn't know the English term.
