I'm off to give blood for the first time ever shortly. I lived in the UK in 1986 and I've never been able to donate until now.
I am trying not to think too hard about it. I hope it's something I will be able to do regularly from now on.
I heard on the news this week that the restrictions on blood donation for people who lived in the UK in the late '80's or early '90's have (or are about to be)lifted.
This is bragging, but it's well-intentioned bragging.
If you are medically able to donate blood, please consider it. Downside: a small amount of pain, and a small amount of time. Upside: you save someone's life.
