Bizarre #CharityShops experience just now. I picked up a complete Verdi Aida CD set, and when the woman at the till scanned it, she asked me to confirm I'm over 18. Weirdness. 💿 #Opera#ClassicalMusic
Somehow managed to remain ignorant of the existence of a sequel to The Handmaid's Tale, but I procured it today at a work book exchange, and now I'm thinking of re-reading the first one, over a decade after the first time, and post-Trump too. Annoying I saw it in a few #CharityShops this week but never picked it up. #books#bookstodon@bookstodon 📖
A confession to barbarism, of sorts, now. With a few exceptions, mostly Shakespeare at his most lyrical, I've never really got poetry. Leaves me cold. Can't explain it. To rectify this nonsense, I picked this up from, you guessed it, one of my routine #CharityShops. Paterson's introduction to Shakespeare's Sonnets was an excellent read, so hopefully he can salvage my humanity. #books#bookstodon@bookstodon 📖
There's one near me. The guy serving was talking to someone. I walked into the shop (as you tend to do in shops) and there was a picture under the counter where the till was. I was looking at it, but the guy talking kinda edged in front of me as I walked in. I went past and looked at the books, also by the counter, and he stood right near me, in between me and the till.
And I'm like: you design the layout with things near the till but you have a problem with thieves?
@philheppenstall A neighbour once offered me her spare ticket for an Editors gig because she knew I liked Joy Division, but I couldn't make it and I've still never heard them. I keep seeing their #CDs in #CharityShops though, so maybe I should give them a go. 💿
