Evening at the beach. If you look close, you can see my sibling fishing in the surf. We have not caught any fish in the saltwater.

The bass are still busy spawning and sitting on their nests, but I was able to land one last night. My hollow deceiver looks skinny out of the water, but it has volume under water where the fibers aren't under tension.

A fly fishing lure in my hand. A fishing pole is also in my hand. Japanese characters are visible on the fishing pole.

Yellow iris - invasive but beautiful in the wetland of the woods

Many trail sections are muddy and wet, but it's nice to discover these flowers in the middle of the wood - invasive species, though 🤔

Ithan Creek, PA

I love this small waterfall, about 5-foot tall. When the temperature is high, I see people bathing here 😊
So, first come, first served 😉
Last Thursday, I lost to several teenagers on a warm day, but I was the only one on Saturday because it was pretty cold 😊

The picture is from Saturday.

Wetland in the woods

Very humid evening with a lot of bugs flying around, but I like this place 😊 No fish, but a lot of frogs 😉

A log boardwalk in the wetland

The trail was mostly muddy with a lot of water. I was wearing fishing waders, but the log footsteps in this section were still intact 😊

Muddy trail in the woods

Arriving at a local creek this evening, I discovered that I forgot fishing lines and also premade fishing rigs 😭 So, I just decided to take a walk in the woods 😊 I didn’t forget fishing waders, so, I had no problem walking such trails 😉 BTW, this is a designated trail, which I usually avoid because it very muddy and wet 😊

I got a lot of refusals at a different lake last night, but they were ready to roll at Stone Mountain tonight. I've been trying out a sort of heavy deer hair bug. Fishing with a Tenkara, I am holding the fly on the surface of the water. The "too long" hook allows me to give it a lot of motion on the surface.

Hay Creek, PA

I did not see anybody on trails, but I saw some people fishing this creek during rain yesterday. I guess it was recently stocked with trout 🤔 Fishing was not my primary focus - I came here for walking in the woods although I had a fly rod with me 😉

It was a nice walk on a rainy day 😊

Some health issues, including a few days in the hospital have kept me off the water so far this year. Very frustrating. I'm going to get ou there soon.

Took one of my old Fenwick rods out to the swamp last night. The water was stained. I had some strikes but never made solid contact with a fish.

No glorious colors, but I was on the Chattahoochee River at sunset. Got a new fly line in the mail, and I've been out scandi casting my two-handed rod. Only caught 2 fish in 4 trips to the hooch, but the weather has been nice.

I've been experimenting with deer hair caddis. Got a scandi line in the mail today, and I'm hoping to take one of these out skating tomorrow.

Kepner Creek, PA

I had 90 minutes while my son was in soccer practice. It took 30 minutes to get to this area, and I needed 30 minutes to get back to the soccer field, so only 30 minutes or less to explore and fish. I felt like I was just driving because I also needed to drive between the soccer field and home 🤔

At some point, I should spend more time exploring this creek 🤔

I drove a lot this weekend. Soccer, fishing, soccer, and soccer…

I also gave my daughter driving lessons - although I myself didn’t drive, I felt like I drove a car for five hours non stop 🙃

Still, nice to see the sunset while watching my kid to play soccer 😊

Passaic River, NJ

Drove about two hours for my son’s away soccer game and found a nice looking river in back of the soccer field. I should buy NJ fishing license as he got more games in NJ🤔

Looks like Pike and Smallmouth are abundant 😊

Darby Creek Valley Park, PA

Arriving at my usual spot, I realized that I forgot my tenkara rod 😭
Although I really wanted to do tenkara, my feeling quickly recovered because I got a backup fly rod and reel in my car 😊 I also rediscovered the quality of this rod 😉 I don’t get to use this setup that much unless I forget or break my main rod for the day 🤔

I am excited about fishing on the Cheoah River this year. Despite multiple trips up to Nantahala National Forest and fishing on nearby creeks and rivers, I have not spent any time on the Cheoah River.

There is just a short stretch of un-impounded riverbed between Santeetlah Dam and Lake Calderwood, but that is a lot of river to explore on foot.

The day after the trout opening day - 3😊

Beaver Creek, PA

Driving 50 minutes (one way) to Downingtown/Thorndale area for my son’s soccer training session today. But as long as I get to see such a nice creek nearby, I am completely OK with that 😉

I spent about an hour checking this creek, now I kind of know what to do with this creek 😊

@parslii@mountains.social avatar

All of the adult fish that I caught this weekend were brook trout. They must be stocked because I've not seen them in this creek before. This is the stream that I got my new-to-me Tenkara Rod Company Kita, and it worked really well on this trip. I was fishing with size and unweighted wet flies.
