Hey @georgetakei — can we get an Oh My?

is a new tool to name and shame the big oil polluters. It’s in space now. You can play with the data.

Feeling strange tingly feelings right now. I think I need to take a cold shower.

potential "game changer"

Govt of Canada has "some of the most stringent regulations w/ ambitions to cut methane leaked and emitted by oil & gas production by up to 75%, from 2012 levels, by 2030"

MethaneSAT's mission: to fill "critical data gap" in identifying potent GHG. Able to identify, quantify and attribute field emission for 80% of global production sites.

is:
🔺 "wildly underreported" by some provinces
🔺 80x more harmful than CO2

A new satellite named MethaneSAT is set to launch in 2023 to help tackle methane leaks, which is a significant contributor to global warming. The Environmental Defense Fund is leading this project with the aim of detecting and measuring methane emissions from space. This mission will provide vital data and insights for governments, businesses, and the public, and encourage actions towards reducing methane emissions.
