I just tooted 🎺 earlier about finding myself behind a #Mazda#MX5#Miata and one of the responses mentioned the dynamics etc.
I’ve never been a big fan of manuals (although I love shiftable automatics) but maybe I should drive the right one to understand why so many #WeirdCar fans desire them.
I’ve driven a Golf Mk I manual (not GTi), a Mercedes-Benz (hated it), and a few other nondescript manual rentals in various guises.
If you had to drive ONE manual to understand, which would it be?
As I consider it, I think that #miata is superior to the #cybertruck in all respects.
It looks more fun. It is all you need for a camping trip. Technically the cybertruck may have a lower environmental footprint, if you drive it along enough. But come on, they'll all be crashed or broken before that happens.
My Weird.Autos anniversary was a few days ago, on the 17th. Best social media experience I've ever had -- even better than my early Facebook experience, which was damn exciting at 13 y/o.
So lucky to have found a core group of online friends who are happy to engage with me on a variety of topics. It's all thanks to the #Miata tag. Y'all rock.
Jay and I had the best day with @Mark and his extremely cool wife Jenny, as expected. We cruised around the New York Hudson Valley and stopped by a couple local staples — an historically excellent diner and a lovely apple farm.
Mark brought the official meme car of Weird.Autos and it’s sick. The shifter has a surprisingly short & notchy throw. The final build will be v cool.
Took a school friend out for a spin in the #Miata. They’ve never been in a sports car or a convertible and they had a blast. Perfect weather for it too. We took a couple on/off ramps pretty aggressively and did a couple quick starts from a dig. Always love to take my friends out with the top down.
Just had some Conti Extreme Contact DWS slapped on. The ride home was plenty comfortable — on par with the rest of my Continental Experience™️. Going to take out the car later on once traffic dies down. Gotta brake in these mfs.
Side note, Mike at Mike’s Hubcaps in Hicksville, NY is the best wheel & tire shop I’ve ever been to. He’s fast as hell and affordable. He swapped my summers for all-seasons in under 30min.
We just arrived home from the annual Maritime #Miata Club "picnic" at Jost Wineries in Malagash, #NovaScotia . Approximately 50 cars appeared, which is amazing given the weather at the start of the day. It was a 300 mile/500km day for us.
So, after a good day in the church parking lot...
No official results yet, but I did OK for an old guy. I didn't finish last (which is always my goal) and did quite well in my class. My raw times were hampered somewhat by A/S tires (even though they are excellent Michelins) whereas the top runners were on 200-rated rubber.
The #Miata is so good for this sort of thing. Such a fun, reliable, and enjoyable sports car.
Our next event is mid-June; looking forward to some updates and more fun!
Just wanted to share my daily
