Watching Cheng Yi as the nerdy judge in Draw the Line and then watching him as the swordsmaster Li Xiang Yi in #MysteriousLotusCasebook will give you massive whiplash, guaranteed. I mean, I totally know this is the whole point of acting, but he just looks. SO. NORMAL. in #DrawTheLine lol.
Anwyay, Cheng Yi is one of the very few actors who does convincing and balletic fight choreography. I love his fight scenes 😍
Wow, this weekend's episodes 29 and 30 of the #cdrama#MysteriousLotusCasebook for the #MLCWatchParty were SO GOOD. The action scenes in ep 30 were exciting and fun to watch, and only slightly reminiscent of the classic 1960s live-action Batman and Robin TV series.
Hopefully non-spoilery image below. I had to watch this whole scene multiple times, it was so good.
I finished watching #mysteriouslotuscasebook. There are very few dramas I use superlatives for but this one is top five for me this year. No baby-voiced women, (although I really had a problem with the female baddie's motivation) and marvelous, understated acting by everyone involved but especially Cheng Yi. The ending even worked for me.
Great #cdrama
So I cheated and watched the much raved about censored kissing scene in Love and Redemption and hooboy they were not kidding about 🔥🔥🔥
Since I first saw Cheng Yi in #MysteriousLotusCasebook I couldn't picture him as a romantic lead. This clip makes 50+ eps of fillers worth it 🫠
What can this guy not do
An interesting conversation hosted by @geraineon on Mastodon yesterday got me thinking about racism, bias and cringe-worthy depictions of foreign nations in Hollywood and other entertainment.
I've always loved the reveal of who that kid is lol. When it first happened, my jaw just dropped open. Never thought that could ever happen. That kid actor did well. He really was a mini Di Fei Shen lol.
I also love DFS's acidic bluntness. He's the perfect foil to Li Lian Hua's smooth nonsense lol
#TigerAndCrane is one of the dramas where you can watch at a gentle, calmer pace because it is so comforting.
Not to say that it is boring or sedate; it is filled with battles, demons and blood, but it is typical shonen fare which makes it a relaxing watch.
This may have been directed by the director of #MysteriousLotusCasebook, but it is not as elegant or mature in its storytelling.
However, the tale of brotherhood is one that he tells well. I ❤️ it!
Oh what the heck, I'm watching this live. Director, you better not slap me with a tragic ending.
Watching ep 1 & whooboy the CGI is rough. However, I like the costumes & sets which has a more realistic vibe and not the too-bright sheen of a lot of #xianxia dramas.
@chu haha aww.
It doesn't have #MysteriousLotusCasebook's quality, that's for sure. Feels like it's made for a younger audience, but I'm rolling with it.
Am at episode 21 of Qing Luo and I say that I still enjoy it a lot. It is definitely not as intense as shows like #MysteriousLotusCasebook but there's a lot of comfort in revelling in a simple story of a man falling in love with a single mum. Speaking of which Liu Xue Yi is another #CDrama actor that needs more prominent roles. He was in #BloodOfYouth which is ❤️& was supposed to be the lead in an upcoming drama but the actress was charged for tax evasion, so the show will be shelved. 🙃
I’d heard that in the cast Q&A Cheng Yi (llh)has said it was an open ending for #MysteriousLotusCasebook, so you could choose what to think.
I’d not heard about Zeng Shunxi (fdb) and Xiao Shunyao (dfs) responses to the same question.
Which was they both said it was definitely a happy ending and they found him.
